In 1991, Alex Barros became 50ccm Brazilian champion. From 1995 Barros moved to Honda, where he had constant problems with lack of founds for 5 years, finishing those seasons 7th, 4th, 9th, 5th and 9th, and taking podium finishes in more occasions.

Barros ended season 2005 in 8th place in general classification, with total 147 points.
